Hennessey Venom F5 Hits 271.6 MPH During High-Speed Testing
Subtle Changes Yield Staggering Top Speed
Hennessey Performance has been testing suspension on various vehicles over the past year. One such vehicle was the Venom F5, which hit a staggering 271.6 mph (437 kmh) during testing. This is a significant improvement over the Venom GT's top speed of 270.4 mph (435 kmh), and it puts the Venom F5 in contention for the title of world's fastest production car.
Hennessey has not yet released any official details about the Venom F5's top speed, but the company claims that the car has the potential to reach 311 mph (500 kmh). The Venom F5 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V8 engine that produces 1,817 horsepower and 1,193 lb-ft of torque. The car weighs just 2,998 pounds, which gives it a power-to-weight ratio of 0.6 horsepower per pound.
The Venom F5's top speed will be verified through a V-MAX speed-tracking system. Hennessey predicts that the car will accelerate from 0 to 186 mph in 10 seconds, and it will complete the quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds.
