Barnsdall Tornado 2024

Tornadoes Cause Damage In Northeastern Oklahoma

Barnsdall & Bartlesville Struck By Tornado

OHP Reports 30-40 Homes Damaged In Barnsdall

BARNSDALL, Okla. (AP) — A large tornado tore through the cities of Barnsdall and Bartlesville in northeastern Oklahoma on Monday morning, causing significant damage. The National Weather Service in Tulsa confirmed the tornado, which was rated as an EF2 or higher on the Enhanced Fujita scale.

The tornado first touched down near Hominy, Oklahoma, at around 7:01 a.m. CST and traveled northeast through Barnsdall and Bartlesville before dissipating. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) reported that around 30-40 homes were damaged in the Barnsdall area. Barnsdall was also hit by a tornado last month, but Monday's tornado appeared to be more powerful.

The National Weather Service had warned earlier on Monday that a large tornado was possible in the area. Residents were urged to take shelter, and many businesses and schools were closed in anticipation of the storm.

There have been no reports of any injuries or fatalities at this time, but emergency crews are still assessing the damage and searching for anyone who may be trapped.
